How to Measure

It's as simple as 1, 2, 3

See measuring diagram for details on where to measure.

All you need is the width and the height of where the shutters are going. We do all the rest.

  1. When measuring you first must decide whether the shutters are able to go in the reveal or need to be place on the outside of the window. This is normally determined by the depth of the reveal. Make sure there is enough room for the shutter blades to rotate to the open position without hitting any thing in the window opening. If you are considering using either the 85mm flat blade or the 89mm aerofoil blade then you will require at least 65mm depth in the reveal. Measured to either the window frame or any other obstacle such as a handle or stiffener bar. This is called the clear space or rotation area in the window. This depth is required to allow the shutter blades to open fully. If using either of the 68mm blades then this clear space needs to be 50mm in depth. If you cannot achieve this required depth then you must mount the shutter on the outside of the reveal, generally on the Architrave or 40mm past the edge of the window, in both height and width.
  2. Make sure the tape is held level and straight ensuring the distance measured is to the nearest MM. We suggest you measure in at least 3 positions vertically and horizontally to see if there is any difference in the measurements. It is always best to work from the smallest measurement.
